Trade Training Centre in Schools Program

The Trade Training Centres in Schools Program is an important element of the Commonwealth Government’s Education Revolution. It will provide $2.5 billion over 10 years to enable all secondary schools to apply for funding of between $500,000 and $1.5 million for Trade Training Centres.

In 2008 there will be two phases of funding; Phase one will be for up to $100 million and Phase two will be for up to $300 million.  In each future year there will be a single funding round of more than $210 million.

Why Trade Training Centres?

Trade Training Centres are being established to help increase the proportion of students achieving Year 12 or an equivalent qualification and help address skill shortages in traditional trades and emerging industries.

The Commonwealth and State and Territory Government and non-government Education Authorities are working closely to enable better opportunities for secondary students across Australia.

Schools will have an opportunity to apply for funding to build new, or upgrade, existing trade or vocational education and training facilities.
